Two Shooting Incidents in San Ignacio Within the Span of Two Hours

There were two shooting incidents in San Ignacio Town on Saturday night and Sunday morning that police believe are connected and drug-related. Just before midnight, officers responded to reports of shots being fired on Domingo Cruz Street. There, they received information that nineteen-year-old Alfredo Rash was socializing on his verandah with a friend when they heard gunshots. Rash later realized that he was injured. A couple hours later, at around two a.m., police responded to shots fired in the same area. ASP Fitzroy Yearwood gave us further details.

“We know that on Sunday, fifth March, sometime around eleven fifty-two p.m., San Ignacio Police went to a scene on twenty-two Domino Cruz Street where Alfredo Rash, nineteen-years, received gunshot wounds and was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital. Mr. Rash is still hospitalize din a stable condition. I know that investigators responded to another shooting incident, a little after two, on Monday morning, that they believe is directly in retaliation to the first incident. I know that our investigators have established that this shooting might be drug related, bearing in mind the location of the first incident, the location. And they are treating both investigations as related. WE know that a vehicle that was identified as the motor vehicle used by the assailant who escaped from the first scene has been located and the drive of that vehicle is also detained and as soon as we have more information, I will impart that to you.”
