Visiting artists hold concert
If there is nothing on your social calendar for this weekend, we may just have the event you’ve been looking for. The Belize Arts council invites you to an evening of inspirational piano music and an art exhibition beginning at eight, tonight at the Bliss Institute. The concert, which will be performed by five members of the Dilliard University Humanities Department of New Orleans, is the result of a cultural exchange that will last until May twenty third. According to Beverly Smith Lopez, the Director of Belize Arts Council, The relationship between Belize and the Louisiana school was established after Gilmore Hinkson a Belizean resident in New Orleans, visited his friend Lucius Weathersby, Dilliard’s Associate Professor of music. But according to a press release from the university, it will not only be music that their talented musicians will be playing. While in Belize the Dilliard faculty will also be looking for prospective students. Meanwhile, Lopez reminds the general public that the Children’s Festival of Arts gets underway Saturday morning at ten thirty, also at the Bliss. Those participating are asked to be on time and the general public is invited to attend.
