Family Says Body Found is Freddy Chicas; Police Say No Official Confirmation

The decomposing remains of twenty-one-year-old Freddy Chicas were discovered by a search party on Friday morning, in the vicinity of the Eight Mile Community along the George Price Highway.  A missing person’s report had only been issued for the whereabouts of the Hattieville resident the night before; but, according to the family of the young man, he was last seen several days prior.  It appeared that Chicas had been shot once to the head and left for dead at that location.  While the family is satisfied that the body retrieved from the area is that of their loved one, Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood told the media today that the corpse that was discovered on Friday is yet to be positively identified.

“I haven’t received an official confirmation of identity, but all indications are it’s a person we sent out a missing flier for last week. Of course you know, when it comes to people loved ones, we want to be at least certain before we put their loved ones names out there and we have to retract.”

“I think the family accepts that it’s Mr. Chicas.”
