Police Say the Driver of the Other Pickup Has Been Served with an N.I.P
The Belize Police Department’s Communications Director, A.S.P Fitzroy Yearwood explained that when investigators arrived at the scene that night, they saw two mangled vehicles and debris strewn everywhere. While the driver of the other pickup truck, Byron Tillett is also hospitalized, he has been served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution, as police continue to gather evidence in the case. Here’s Yearwood answering questions from the media on the accident.
A.S.P. Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department
“The driver of the F-150 pick-up – sorry, the Ford Ranger – was seen trapped in his vehicle, along with three other passengers, members of his family. It was revealed that the pick-up was driven at the time by Aldair Tillett, twenty-seven years old, accompanied by his wife, Felicia de la Fuente, their four old child, Alicia Tillett and Janina Tillett, eighteen years (old). The driver of the other vehicle was found out to be Baron Tillett, thirty-five years old, and he was accompanied by Alexis Noemes, thirty-five years. We know that Baron and Alexis were transported to the Northern Regional Hospital where they were listed in a critical but stable condition. Unfortunately all four members of the other family in the Ford Ranger were pronounced dead by a medical officer at the Northern Regional Hospital. 0 From what the investigators have sent so far, they’re saying that one of the driver may have lost control of his vehicle. We would know that after the motor vehicle inspector has done his part, and then we would be able to answer that with a more definite conclusion.”

“Okay, now, has a blood, alcohol or urine sample been taken from Byron Tillett?”
A.S.P Fitzroy Yearwood
“Well, the investigators haven’t indicated that to me, but I believe that they did everything that is required from a traffic accident scene, which would include trying to obtain specimen. Failure to provide that specimen would result in charges being levied against that driver.”

“You have any information if the people are related, they have the same last name, the two drivers.”
A.S.P Fitzroy Yearwood
“We were trying to verify that, but we know that one family is from Trinidad Village and the driver is from San Antonio Village, Alexis, – no, I’m sorry, San Lazaro Village – the other driver, Byron Tillett.”
