Warren Coye Resigns as Treasurer of Cycling Federation
A new executive of the Cycling Federation of Belize, led by President Alicia Thompson, was elected in December of last year, but tonight, less than four months into its first term of office, Warren Coye has demitted his post as C.F.B.’s treasurer. A letter issued by the chartered public accountant began circulating earlier informing his colleagues of his immediate resignation. Coye cites that as a C.P.A., he has attempted unsuccessfully to introduce basic and specific financial protocols in the handling of the federation’s funds. According to Coye, several requests for receipts for funds used for cycling events remain pending, notwithstanding his willingness to assist with cash management. He states that he has also attempted to implement communication protocols to ensure that there is collective and informed decision-making, but those efforts were also fruitless. He also goes on to say that key decisions amongst the executive are being taken without discussion and he is only made aware of those decisions via third parties. News Five attempted to reach C.F.B. President Alicia Thompson earlier today but our call went unanswered.
