Police Department to Boost Presence across the Country Over Easter Holidays
As many people leave their homes to travel to be with relatives or friends elsewhere this Easter, thieves will likely be prowling as well to see where they can pounce without being detected. But coupled with the neighborhood watch groups, the Belize Police Department will be beefing up their patrols and presence in the different zones where they work. Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams says that the tourist destinations will be high on the list of places where the department will focus its energy to keep the peace.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We are stepping up our policing efforts across the country, particularly those areas we know Belizeans normally travel to during the Easter holidays. We’re looking at San Pedro, Caye Caulker, Placencia, Seine Bight, San Ignacio, Hopkins, and members of our specialized units are being deployed to these areas to make sure that our residents who go to these different parts of the country to spend time with their families or to recreate, that they can do so in a somewhat safe environment.”
