Two detained for counterfeit hundreds
In other crime news two Corozal men have been detained pending charges of passing counterfeit currency. On Sunday a shopkeeper of Saint Margaret’s Village told police that two men came to his store and paid for two cokes with a hundred dollar note. Upon closer inspection the bill proved false. When police intercepted the big spenders’ vehicle on the Hummingbird Highway they confronted the two occupants: Windell Herrera and Javier Maldonado, both of San Andres Village in Corozal. A search revealed the ninety seven dollars change in Maldonado’s pocket and four more counterfeit blue boys on the passenger side sun visor of the car. All the hundred dollar bills had the same serial number: 3-7-9-9-4-3.
