Artists and Artisans Welcome to Attend Saturday’s Workshop
Batty says that even the artists and artisans of all walks of life are urged to attend Saturday’s workshop so they too can have their voices heard in the report and give their views on how Belize, as a country, ought to be heading culturally. That all-day event will also take place at the Government House, as the National Coordinator advises.
Sylvia Batty, National Coordinator, Cultural Workshop
“On Saturday we have the culmination of this four day workshop. And so, the Institute of Creative Arts through their social media pages is circulating an invitation already. And so we are inviting all persons within that cultural and creative industry to come out for a community consultation meeting. So this is where we present what the national team. Who are elaborating this report, we will present on some of the work that we have been doing over the past, uh, four days. Okay. Um, and we will also very importantly, allow spaces for different persons who maybe were not able to attend this meeting, to really contribute and give input and have their voices heard within this process. So it’s open for as many people as possible. So whether you are a traditional craftsperson, you are from a cooperative, you’re an artist, you’re an artisan in music, film, in the media, you are all welcome to come to the Government House, house of Culture Saturday, I think that’s the 15th of April, starting at 9:00 AM and sort of to be within this space where you can have this dialogue collectively and you can really contribute to having your voice heard within this report.”
