Woman wins $100,000 lotto jackpot

Story Picture
If you are among the thousands of Belizeans who bought a lotto ticket for last night’s draw we have some bad news: you didn’t win, someone else did. This morning a calm and cool Ethel Jones walked into the offices of the Tropical Gaming Company on North Front Street to claim her jackpot prize of one hundred thousand dollars. The twenty two year old Belize City resident said she first heard the good news after it was announced over the radio this morning.

Ethel Jones, $100,000 Lotto Winner

“Well, I heard it on Love F.M, Brian announced it and I said well, these are my five numbers.”

Q: “You actually said it so calmly?”

Ethel Jones

“Yes, I didn’t make a lot of noise or anything. I just wake up and told my boyfriend these are my five numbers that I have selected.”

Q: “Did you buy only one ticket or more than one?”

Ethel Jones

“I bought two tickets.”

Q: “So you only spent four dollars?”

Ethel Jones

“I spent only four dollars.”

Jones, who takes home eighty five thousand dollars after Government’s fifteen percent cut, says she has no immediate plans as to how the money will be spent, but for the time being will put all the cash safely in the bank.
