High School and Primary School Students Are Among Four Arraigned For Easter Weekend Burglary
Two adults and two minors have been arraigned for a burglary in Los Lagos where thirty-eight thousand dollars, a high powered rifle and several other items were stolen. On Tuesday night, we told you that thieves broke into a home over the Easter holiday and escaped with these items. Well, tonight two of the four suspects have been placed on curfew after being arraigned before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson. The accused are forty-six-year-old Kirk Douglas, twenty-year-old Lyndon Chun and two minors, age sixteen and twelve-years-old from Belmopan. They were jointly charged with one count of burglary while Lyndon Chun and the two minors were charged jointly for possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. They were allegedly found with five hundred and thirty-two grams of cannabis. They all pleaded not guilty to the two charges. The Prosecutor, Sergeant Christopher Smith, had no objection to bail but asked the court to set conditions to their bail. He requested that a curfew be set for the accused and that the minors remain in school. He further asked that they be instructed to join after-school programs with the Community Rehabilitation Department. Bail was offered to the adults in the sum of five thousand dollars each, plus two sureties of twenty-five hundred dollars each, while the two minors were handed over into the care of their mother after meeting bail in the sum of two thousand dollars. The conditions of the bail for the minors are that they remain living with their parents. They cannot change their address or move out without first notifying the court and they cannot associate with any known gang members or convicted gang members or gang associates. Both minors were instructed to be indoors between the hours of eight p.m. and six a.m.
