The Cabanas family of Sand Hill Village is mourning the loss of Leonel Cabanas, who died while driving home around two-thirty this morning on his motorcycle. Cabanas was homebound when he suffered a front wheel blow out near Z Gas depot near mile thirteen on the Philip Goldson Highway. He had worked through the night on the job in Burrell Boom, and had just left the work site. Today, the police department’s Regional Commander at Eastern Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero said that the information reaching police was that Cabanas suffered a blowout and was flung off the motorcycle.

“On Monday around 2:30 a.m., police visited an year between miles 10 and 11 on the highway where they found a motorcycle with damages and near to the motorcycle was a male person who was identified as Leonel Cabanas. Information is that he lost control of the motorcycle and he fell off his motorcycle and he received serious injuries.”
The 150 Meilun brand motorcycle shows that Cabanas did indeed suffer a front wheel blowout, and that caused him to lose control of the bike and was flung to the pavement. The police are expected to conduct a full inspection on the bike on Tuesday to determine its functionality. Cabanas’ family, too grief-stricken to speak publicly, told us that he was a father of four children, the youngest of whom is two years old. Marion Ali for News Five.
