Road accidents kill three
Three people lost their lives in two separate traffic accidents over the weekend. The first incident was reported shortly after eleven o’clock Friday night in the nation’s capital. According to Belmopan police, forty five year old Ramon Cante, a resident of Salvapan Village was knocked down by a truck as he walked on the Ring Road. The driver of the vehicle, forty year old Lennox Johnson of Camalote Village has since been arrested and charged for manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention.
Those same three charges and a couple more have been brought against an Orange Walk man in connection with the second accident, this one on the Northern Highway. Orange Walk police say a small car that was travelling towards town collided into the back of a loaded sugar cane trailer parked in the village of Trail Farm. The police say the impact of the collision sent the car spinning out of control and crashing into the side of another vehicle that was moving in the opposite direction. Twenty nine year old Roberto Carrillo of Chan Pine Ridge and twenty one year old Nadiel Aguilar of Xiabe Village who were travelling in the car, received head and body injuries and were both pronounced dead on arrival at the Orange Walk Hospital. A third passenger in the ill-fated car escaped with only a broken arm and a cut wound to his forehead. Both the driver of the car Virgilio Noh and the driver of the other vehicle, thirty year old Vidal Patt, escaped without injury. Virgilio Noh who was originally being sought by the cops, this afternoon handed himself in at the Orange Walk Police Station. Additional charges brought against Noh are for failing to stop and render aid and failing to report an accident.
