Another butane truck involved in accident on Northern Highway

Story Picture
For the second time in as many weeks a major catastrophe involving a butane gas delivery truck has been narrowly averted on the Northern Highway. Last week it was a truck belonging to Belize Western Energy Limited that skidded off the road and overturned, blocking traffic for hours. Today, the highway was again the scene of a crash, this time involving a truck belonging to Belize Choice Gas. Around ten o’clock this morning a vehicle bearing the diplomatic plates of the European Union Representative in Belize collided into the right side of the truck, apparently as it was about to make a right turn into Coral Grove. At the time of the incident, the vehicle was being driven by Chantal Van Opstal, wife of the E.U. Representative. She received head and body injuries, none of which appeared to be life threatening. No one in the truck was injured, nor was there any leakage of butane gas.
