Cost of Living Went Up 6.1% over Between March 2022 and March 2023
Cost of living in Belize continued on its upward path between March of last year and March of this year. According to the latest information from the Statistical Institute of Belize, the Consumer Price Index survey indicates that the country’s inflation rate went up by six point one percent during that period. That means that the cost of goods and services that are regularly purchased showed an increase. Food and non-alcoholic beverages accounted for almost three-quarters of the national inflation rate for the month of March, according to S.I.B. During the month of March 2023, Belize imported over two hundred and thirty-seven million dollars worth of goods, which was an increase of fourteen point three million in March of 2022. Meanwhile, total domestic exports for March 2023 stood at thirty point nine million dollars, and this is a decrease of eighteen point one million, when compared to exports of March 2022.
