Naked body of female found in pond
Last week Thursday we reported that the police found the body of taxi driver Antonio Orellana between miles three and four on the Western Highway. Orellana was murdered and investigations are still underway on who murdered the taxi driver. And on Monday another body was found. This time police found the naked body of a woman floating face down in a pond at mile three on the Western Highway. Fifty-six year old Linda Reneau Williams, a resident of Police Street is said to be mentally challenged, so the family initially suspected that she may have drowned. But that is changing now, since no water was found in her lungs.
Rose Connor, Niece of Linda Williams
“My aunt da mi wah nerve patient, she was a mental patient but she dah neva wah mental patient weh go bout di place and deh bout di place cause she have people weh tek care ah ah. She live with her daughter. Hwe daughter build ih lee house, ih son from states send iih money and dehn build ih house fi ah so she neva deh bout.”
Jose Sanchez
“What was the circumstances? Where? And what condition?”
Rose Connor
“She was naked. They didn’t tell us where they found here, they only told us on the Western Highway. This morning a policeman told me that they found her five and a half miles on the Western Highway and like half mile in the bush.”
Jose Sanchez
“Alright, we get reports it was three miles.”
Rose Connor
“Okay, dis dah weh wah police tell me and he seh he mi deh pan di site. They found her nude, naked with her clothes beside her.”
Jose Sanchez
“And then they took the body to the morgue?”
Rose Connor
“Yes, they did, they took her body to the morgue. They had the body there until nine this morning. They told my niece they have to take out the body to do the post mortem now. They took us to a site on the Northern Highway, they did the post mortem. After that the doctor was there he didn’t’ tell me anything, the police didn’t’ say anything to me. When we were on our way from the bank to the hospital, we got a call from the undertaker stating, they don’t want the body. I asked him who does not want the body? He said the police called him along with the doctor and said the body is in no state to wait until Friday; to go into the morgue. I was there when they did that post mortem. Why didn’t they tell me that right there on that spot before I leave?”
Jose Sanchez
“You are aware that is unusual to take a body to the morgue and then take it back to the road?”
Rose Connor
“It’s very unusual because if the body was badly decomposed as they say, they should have post mortemed right there and bury it on site. I think we need some answers.”
Jose Sanchez
“It’s four in the evening, what are you going to do?”
Rose Connor
“We are going to bury our body right now. We got to the burying ground, get our body and bury it right now as I’m speaking.”
Desiree Reneau, Niece of Linda Williams
“They take her and wrap her up like a mummy and telling us that we can’t dress her. We have to put her down just like that.”
Jose Sanchez
“Have they given you any idea as to the results of the Post Mortem?”
Desiree Reneau
“No, Dr. Estradabran said “I did the post-mortem.” I taught to myself in the first place, we thought it was drowning. That probably she fell and drowned. He don’t find water in the lungs; he don’t find sand; he don’t find nothing of grasping for breath. He just find her hand squinged. So he can’t say she drowned and he can’t say what she died from so the death is just unknown death.”
After the interview, the nieces of Linda Williams were off to collect her body for burial.
