Two-Storey House Destroyed in Jane Usher Blvd Fire

There was also a fire in the Jane Usher Boulevard area of Belize City on Sunday; fortunately, no one was injured in that blaze. But the National Fire Service is reporting that the two-storey wooden structure, while abandoned by its owner, it was being occupied by someone.  Kenneth Mortis says that the fire was due to the negligent use of an open flame.

Kenneth Mortis, Station Supervisor, National Fire Service

“It was an abandoned house, a two-storey structure. That building was completely gutted by fire. We can conclude that the fire was the act of a negligent use of an open flame by an unknown individual who apparently took up that building as residence. We were trying to gather information from him, but as the norm is whenever these types of characters create these fires, they automatically vanish with the wind. So, exactly who the individual is, we have no information at this time, but we do know that this was a negligent use of an open flame.”

“The estimate value of the damage?”

Kenneth Mortis

“That is yet to be determine seeing that the owner of the building isn’t in the country.”
