Musa reaffirms no taxpayers’ money was used to pay UHS debt
The former prime minister repeated today how the monies were used to pay off a debt to Universal Health Services.
Said Musa
“I took a decision sometime back, listening to the voices of the people, that I would not allow taxpayers money to be used to settle this bank debt of the Universal Health Hospital. You remember there was a demonstration about it; no taxpayers’ money must be used. I listened to the voices of the people and I went to Venezuela and I spoke to the highest authorities there and I arranged to have this grant by the Venezuelan government, a gift, no loan, it was a gift by Venezuela. I specifically asked for the twenty million Belize dollars to be used to pay this debt and that’s what it was used for. Not one penny came to me or to anybody in the People’s United Party government.”
Musa’s first ever appearance as a defendant in the Supreme Court will take place on April seventh.
