House meets next week for budget presentation
In political news a special sitting of the House of Representatives has been called for the morning of Wednesday, March eighteenth. It is believed that Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Manuel Esquivel will be presenting his government’s budget for the fiscal year which begins on April first. Since this is the last budget presentation prior to national elections the speech is expected to paint a picture of strong economic progress and provide plenty of goodies for the electorate. It is believed that the People’s United Party will continue its boycott of the National Assembly, with P.U.P. Leader Said Musa likely delivering the opposition’s response to the budget in a public address to be broadcast on Wednesday night.
