A Dangriga Fisherman Charged for the Murder of Marlon Martinez
A fisherman from Dangriga has been charged for the murder of Marlon Martinez who disappeared on March sixth. Thirty-four-year-old Derek Gorosica was arraigned for the Martinez’s murder following the discovery of skeletal remains. Earlier today, ACP Hilberto Romero provided additional information on the latest developments regarding that case.

“Reference the missing person’s report of Marlon Martinez which was made on March 6th, 2023, a thorough investigation was carried out which led to the arrest of Derek Gorosica for the crime of murder. This is after some human remains were found and an investigation was carried out. After consultation with the DPP’s Office, this person was charged for the crime of murder.”

“The human remains were tested?”
“The human remains were examined by a medical, forensic pathologist. We got the results and based on those examinations, the determination was made to charge this person with murder.”

“Has the DNA analysis confirmed whether or not it was conclusive that this is Marlon Martinez?”

“Those will be sent abroad for testing.”

“So at this point there is no definite conclusion that those remains belong to Marlon Martinez?”
Hilberto Romero
“I will not go into every detail. Again, we carried out an investigation and at the conclusion, it was determined that there was sufficient evidence to charge him, therefore, he was charged.”
