B.D.F Receives Communications Equipment
The first set of communications equipment that will be deployed to Belize Defense Force outposts was handed over today to Brigadier General, Azariel Loria. The B.D.F will benefit from an investment of thirteen million dollars in equipment and infrastructure works, procured under the Belize Integral Security Program. Under that program, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, CABEI, has provided sixty million dollars, to strengthen the capacity of the B.D.F. Today’s allotment was worth just over a hundred and forty-six thousand dollars. The equipment comprises of ten sets of mobile-based stations, repeaters, handheld radios with integrated software, and a range of different fixed and mobile antennas, which can be used in urban and jungle settings. C.E.O in the Ministry of Economic Development, Doctor Osmond Martinez handed over the equipment to the Minister of State in the Ministry of National Defense and Border Security, Oscar Mira and the B.D.F. commander.
