Police Returns Fire in Weekend Shooting Incident

Kenroy Elijio

Another armed assault in the Old Capital over the weekend resulted in thirty-one-year-old Kenroy Elijio being shot in the arm. That incident happened near Victoria Street.  An officer in the neighborhood responded to the shooting by returning fire at the pair of gunmen who accosted Elijio.  Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero provided additional details on the attack.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander, Eastern Division

“On Sunday, around 12:40 a.m., police responded to a shooting incident at Victoria Street in Belize City.  Upon their arrival, they found Kenroy Elijio, thirty-one years old with a gunshot injury to the arm.  Information received from the area is that two persons came to a yard in that area in Victoria Street and they wanted to shoot at someone.  At this point, a police officer who was in the area responded to the shots fired and began to fire shots towards the male persons who were firing.  The two male persons made good their escape and thereafter, Kenroy Elijio was found with that gunshot injury to the elbow.”
