Raheem Reid

Tonight, Raheem Reid, a deliveryman of Belize City is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after he was denied bail on arraignment on a charge of use of deadly means of harm upon Kenroy Elijio with the use of a firearm and for aggravated assault with a firearm upon Raheem Neal, a police officer. Reid pleaded not guilty to both charges and he was remanded until July seventeenth, based on the gravity of the offence. According to police, on Sunday May fourteenth, they were alerted of a shooting on Victoria Street. When they visited the K.H.M.H, they saw Kenroy Elijio of Lucky Strike Village with gunshot injuries to his left arm, and a graze to the left side of the abdomen. Police say that on said date, Raheem Neal, a police officer, was standing in his family yard in Price Alley when he heard gunshots and noticed a man whom he knows shooting at a group of persons who were socializing in front of an open lot in the alley. Neal who was in uniform, reportedly drew his weapon and opened fire at Reid.  At the same time he heard gunshots coming from the opposite direction of Price Alley and Victoria Street, and saw another man shooting in his direction. Officer Neal said he returned fire and the man ran towards Victoria Street. By that time, Kenroy Elijio, who was standing in a yard opposite of Victoria Street and Price Alley, was shot. When police visited the scene of the shooting, they found seven expended shells.
