“Art Under the Stars, Encountering God Through Beauty”, A Mercy Church Concert
The Divine Mercy Church is hosting an art and culture fundraiser on Saturday night inside the church compound in Belize City. The event is called, “Art Under the Stars, Encountering God Through Beauty”. The funds raised will be used to support the Mother of Mercy Montessori, a private educational institution led by the church here in Belize City. It is their hope that through these fundraising initiatives the institution can extend its services to some of the neediest across the Old Capital.

“Pre-COVID we have had a couple of them now, this is the first one after COVID, it is celebration of humanity, creativity you would say. It is a fundraiser. It is a benefit event, but the main goal, we try in our fundraisers to have a challenge or principle, not to have getting money be the main goal of any kind of fundraiser. You need that to serve our mission, but I think the focus of this one is really one of the pillars of Mother Mercy Montessori, in culture. To be mindful that faith and culture come together, we have over a hundred artist, Belizean artist coming together and they are coming together in the celebration of their talents. We have a series of steel pan bands coming in, a series of different artists coming through, physical art, poem, dance, you name it. The theme is encountering god through beauty and god ultimately in Christianity we believe god who is spirit became human in the incarnation. God became beautiful to the eye.”
