Henry Charles Usher also weighed in on the Boledo conversation during his appearance on Open Your Eyes this morning. Usher argued that while the former administrators of the Boledo and Sunday Lottery Draw were making quite a bit of money from sales, he did not hear about them investing money in community programs and events.

“I think it is important to understand there are a lot of irregularities about what was happening. It is still a case before the court. But, I think it is important that if you have this type of game in the country then Belizeans should benefit from just the two million or whatever it was that was paid as a license fee every year. The money being profited from boledo is very high. From just what has been claimed by the former owners you can see that they were making quite a bit of money from this game. So, more should have been pumped back in. The problem I have with the previous owners is that you never hear them sponsoring any sports team. You never hear those sponsoring La Ruta Maya. You don’t hear anything when it comes to that. There was no give back to the community. Whereas, you have other good corporate citizens that give back to the community, so yeah there was no scholarships. You didn’t hear anything about no medical help. You didn’t hear anything at all.”
