Antanacio Gutierrez laid to rest on Friday…
And on Friday, five days after he was killed and on the day the strike was called off, forty-four year old Antanacio Gutierrez was laid to rest at his home village. The farmer from San Victor in the Corozal District was in a truck at Tower Hill among striking farmers when he was hit by the fatal shots from the security forces. Thousands of grieving villagers, farmers and others descended on the village to celebrate his life and passing. Gutierrez leaves behind six children, his wife Benita and other family members.
