Archives receives rare documents
He leaves on Monday but before heading off to his next post in Babbados, British High Commissioner Gordon Baker today presented the Archives Department with a collection of historical maps and drawings. The documents were purchased personally by Baker and his wife Sheila from an antique dealer in London, and include a survey plan of Belize City drawn in 1887. Chief Archivist Charles Gibson accepted the gift on behalf of Government and said it will enhance the archives’ collection and go a long way to help Belizeans better understand their history.
