Police Investigates Viral Video of Apparent Cartel Abduction

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a viral video showing an ex-cop being held for ransom by Mexican cartels. Reports are that the individual seen in the video is currently in the U.S. in good health. On Monday, Chester Williams, the Commissioner of Police, informed reporters that he has tasked investigators to contact the family members of the individual to gather further details on what transpired in the viral video.

“In respect of that matter, we are not sure what happened. We cannot say that the young man was detained by the cartel. We cannot say that we were not. I had tasked investigators to contact his family members to see if we would be able to meet with him, interview him and get from him exactly what transpired and if we were to do that then we can arrive at a definitive decision or conclusion as to whether or not he was indeed held captive by cartel and what was done to secure his release. At this time we can only go by what we are seeing and hearing, but to say definitively that this is the case or that was the case, we cannot say that at this time, no.”
