Colombian “tall ship” arrives next week
The nation’s gossip may be focused on Sunday’s impending arrival of a cruise ship but a vessel docking two days later may steal the show. The “ARC GLORIA”, a classic sailing vessel from Colombia, will arrive in Belize City on February 3rd on a goodwill visit. The ship, belonging to the Colombian navy, is used to train sailors in basic nautical skills and will arrive at the deepwater port manned by two commanders, 20 naval officials, 86 cadets, 12 civilians and three invited guests from Jamaica, Venezuela and Ecuador. Along with fostering international friendship, the visit is expected to bring some midweek excitement to the Belize City nightlife scene.
