Prisoners charged for attacking fellow inmate

Story PictureFive prisoners are facing charges for attacking a fellow inmate at the Queen Street Police Station last Friday. Twenty-one year old Robert Gillett, eighteen year old Trevor Lamb, along with two minors, appeared in Magistrates’ Court today, while the third minor was arraigned on Thursday; all face charges of Wounding. While in their holding cell, the group allegedly assaulted forty-two year old Chinese businessman, Yong Sheng Zhang, who is on remand for Murder. Yong suffered a bruised lip, swelling to the left side of his head and right foot and complained of abdominal pains. The five men pleaded not guilty to the charge and their case was adjourned until April first. Gillett is on trial for Manslaughter in connection with the death of Noemi Garcia, who was decapitated in Lords’ Bank in June of 2005. One minor is on remand for Murder, while Lamb and the other two minors are in for Robbery. One of the minors charged with Robbery is out on bail for that offence.
