Huge Bush Fire Burning Behind Belama Phase Five
This evening, officials from the National Fire Service were summoned to an area behind the Belama Phase Five community where a huge bush fire was burning uninhibited. The truck could not reach the area however, because of illegal low-hanging electrical lines. Those makeshift grids have been connected from B.E.L’s main power lines to the homes and pose a hazard particularly to large vehicles wanting to access the area. The fire was reported earlier this afternoon across a section of the Belize River. Our camera captured officials from the Forestry Department monitoring the fire with the use of a drone. While the fire is huge, it does not pose any immediate threat to the houses.
