School-Aged Athletes Stand Better Chances for Sporting Fellowships through M.O.U.
It’s known as BK Sports Group, started in 2018 by brothers, Berisford and Bryton Codd with the goal of helping Belizean athletes with sporting opportunities. This week, the Ministry of Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding with BK Sports Group to promote tertiary-level education opportunities for Belizean student athletes. Today, Bryton Codd explained what the M.O.U. stipulates for.
Bryton Codd, Founder, BK Sports
“We’re an organization that really and truly seeks to find the linkages between Belize and the U. S. and Canada to provide for athletic opportunities for our student athletes coming directly out of high school as well as those who are already in colleges to get them into athletic programs. So one of the things that we had to consider as an organization is finding a way how to make the transition process easier for these student athletes because it’s a cost. It’s rather expensive to transition as well as to secure the financing needed to be able to enter into these institutions. So the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed between the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, Technology, and BK Sports Group formalizes what was an ongoing discussion between our organization and Minister Fonseca in which finances would be provided for the athletes that we are representing as an organization to ensure that the transition process is a bit smoother.”
