Mark Godoy Busted for Unlicensed Firearm
Nineteen-year-old Mark Godoy has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after he appeared unrepresented in the lower courts this morning. The Santa Barbara Street resident was busted on Saturday in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ten live rounds of ammunition. He was taken before Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman where he was read charges of kept firearm without a gun license and one count of kept ammunitions without being granted a gun license by the Commissioner of Police. Godoy, an employee of La Popular Bakery was nabbed by police on July first. He pleaded not guilty to both charges, however, due to the nature of the offenses, he was denied bail and placed on pretrial detention until August seventeenth, 2023.
