A new V.S.O. director arrives in Belize
The U.S. Peace Corps may have a higher public profile but its British Counterpart, Voluntary Service Overseas has been quietly working in Belize since the 1960’s. This year V.S.O., a charitable organization with professional volunteers in 59 countries, celebrates its 40th anniversary. There are currently 21 V.S.O.’s in Belize, working with both government and NGO’s in the fields of health, education, agriculture, human development and small business. A new programme director, Dr. Mark Wright, has recently been appointed for Belize, and will be posted here for the next four years.
