Fire Guts San Ignacio Home; Man Escapes with Life
The second fire also occurred on Sunday morning, but this time in San Ignacio. Just before dawn, a fire started inside a two-storey house on Second Street with its owner, Leopoldo Waight, inside. The upper flat of the building, where it is believed that the fire started, was wooden and the ground floor was concrete. The branch of National Fire Service in that municipality was called out to the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze, but nothing was saved. Fortunately, in this case, Waight was safely taken out of the burning building. When we arrived at the scene near the downtown area of San Ignacio, the gate was locked and the charred rubble had not been removed as yet. An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the fire.
