Two Men Charged for Burrell Boom Incident
Two men have been charged in connection with a brawl and subsequent injuries at the Elton Gillett Park in Burrell Boom. In that incident, Coast Guard officer, Daniel Sabido was seriously injured and left partially paralyzed. Fifty-two-year-old Garrison Nicholson of Burrell Boom Village was charged with aggravated assault with a machete and was granted bail of fifteen hundred dollars. The second suspect, thirty-eight-year-old Adrian Myvette, also of Burrell Boom, was remanded to prison until September fifth on a charge of attempted murder. Nicholson had an injury on his left arm, reportedly the result of the machete fight. Allegations are that on Saturday, July first, Nicholson assaulted Robert Tillett with a machete. Nicholson, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty to the charge. While he is out on bail, he is not to contact the virtual complainant or any members of his family; he is not to be within a hundred yards of the complainant or any of his family members; and he is not to be arrested and charged with any other offence while he is out on bail. Myvette was read two counts of attempted murder charges and one count of possession of a controlled drug. He pleaded guilty to drug possession and was fined four hundred dollars, plus a five-dollar cost or court fine, to be paid by September twenty-ninth, in default four months imprisonment. The report by Robert Tillett is that he was watching a basketball game with his friends at the park when Sabido went over to the right side of the court and that a person who he knew approached him. The other man pulled out a machete and attacked Sabido and the man also picked up a bottle and threw it at Sabido, hitting him at the back of his head. According to Tillett, he and his other friends picked up Daniel Sabido who was injured in the attack and they carried him to the hospital.
