Police Still Need Evidence to Lay Charges in Imari Galvez Murder
It has been almost two months since nineteen-year-old Imari Galvez was found murdered off the Hummingbird Highway. The Belmopan resident had left home two days prior to the discovery of her body and the last information from police back then was that they had her I-phone and were in the process of asking for assistance to unlock it in order to access whatever messages or call logs exist just prior to her death. Today, Commissioner Williams said that the police still hold the same person back then as their prime suspect now, but they need evidence to bring about a charge.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We’re still trying to work with our counterparts to see if we’ll be able to get into the phone. It’s an iPhone, and you all would know the difficulty with iPhone. Um, it is not an easy phone to get into. And so we have tried several mechanisms, but so far we have not been able to. Um, nonetheless, we continue to see what we can do to be able to get into that phone. We need to get evidence to be able to lay charges in the absence of that, we cannot lay charges.”
