No Suspect in the Murder of Jasmine Domingo

This afternoon, the Belize Police Department discussed the heinous murder during its weekly press brief. Regional Commander, ACP Hilberto Romero is in charge of Eastern Division. He told reporters earlier that Domingo’s brother is believed to have been the intended target of the armed assault on the Plues Street residence. Assistant Commissioner of Police Romero says that while a suspect is yet to be identified, it is believed that the attack stems from the existing feud.

“This morning, around three a.m., police responded to a shooting incident at Plues Street in Belize City. Upon their arrival, they saw a female with gunshot injuries. She was identified as Jasmine Domingo, twenty-three-year-old Belizean of Plues Street. She was taken to the K.H.M.H. where shortly thereafter she was pronounced dead. Also seen at the hospital was a four-year-old minor with a gunshot injury to the leg. Initial investigation is that Jasmine Domingo was along with her child at Plues Street sleeping inside a room, along with several other children and other male persons when a male person came to the house and fired several shots through a wooden window that is situated at the side of the building. Investigation into this matter continues at this time.”

“Have you established who was the intended target?”

“Yes, we have established who may have been the intended target.”

“Does this have to do with her brothers? We know that they are known to be members of the George Street gang.”
Hilberto Romero
“That is the information that we have gathered. It is an internal feud that is occurring in that particular area.”

“We know that Domingo was shot, I believe, maybe a month and a half ago on Amara Avenue and the police had stated that they had identified the persons who he was feuding with. Is it the same persons that were involved in that beef?
Hilberto Romero
“We have not identified the exact persons we are looking for at this time. That is all the information that we are getting that it’s from the same feud they had in the past. We believe that a male person who was also sleeping in the room was the intended target.”
