Is PlusTV’s Email Hack Linked to B.E.L.’s Ransomware?

Louis Wade Jr.

Louis Wade Junior says that the media house has been decentralizing apps attached to that Gmail account, but it has affected the company significantly because there were several other activities connected to that account. Wade cannot confirm that it is directly linked to B.E.L.’s ransomware incident; however, the email in question was used as part of the data information shared with the utility company.

Louis Wade Jr., Managing Director, PlusTV

“It is the first thing that came to mind because this has never happened before. Secondly, it did not occur through the normal channel, like I said phishing, where you click a wrong link. This is the account where we do receive our electronic billing; it’s one of those accounts. And it is interesting as it relates to the timing that not only us at PlusTV – SouBel – which is a related media house with us in the south said that they are having issues as well and many other people are having issues as well at this particular point in time. Only if we are able to solve the issue will we be able to know for sure if it is related. The timing is interesting, but we are hopeful that the people we have working on the issue, we hope that they will be able to give us some feedback.”
