Belize Secures First Victory in Central American Basketball Tournament
The International Basketball Federation’s Under-Seventeen Centrobasket Tournament is currently underway inside the Belize City Civic Center. On Wednesday night, Belize played its first match of the tournament against Panama. After four quarters of play time, Belize came out of the match on top, winning the game with seventy-eight baskets to Panama’s sixty-seven baskets. Number twenty-four for team Belize, Douglas Langford recorded a double-double, with seventeen points and seventeen rebounds. He also had four steals and five blocks. Number five, Devin Moody also recorded a double-double with twelve points and ten rebounds. Number one Elijah Favela brought the hot hands for team Belize, scoring eighteen points, five of which were three-pointers. Team Belize takes on Jamaica tonight inside the Civic. A win tonight will guarantee the team a spot in the medal round over the weekend.
