Businessman murdered in Port Loyola

The first murder for the month of November occurred this evening in the Port Loyola area of the city. The victim is well known in the area and early reports say he was shot several times by a gunman who drove up in a vehicle. Marion Ali was there minutes after it happened and files this report from the scene.

“Yes we are the scene of the fatal shooting which occurred shortly before five o’clock this evening. We haven’t yet received any official word from the Police Department but people in the area have told us that the victim, who has been identified to us by them is Jason Coombs, the owner and operator of a construction site her right adjacent to the Customs Department in the Port Authority area of Belize City. The incident again occurred just before five, like five minutes to five thereabout, and they’ve told us that a vehicle entered the compound and someone from inside that vehicle fired four shots fatally wounding Jason Coombs. He’s still lying on the ground as you can see in the background. We will be following up with police on Thursday to find out the motive of this incident and to see if they have any suspects by then.”

Police are investigating this latest homicide and are tracing the vehicle, which is described as a maroon car.
