Seventy- four Students Graduate as ITVET’s Class of 2023
Earlier today, a cohort of seventy-four students graduated as the Class of 2023 from the Institute for Technical and Vocational Education and Training. Since its establishment, ITVET offers demand-driven skills training to Belizeans who prefer tuition in job-related courses. Ironically, these skills are often looked at as secondary to academic education. Technical and vocational skills are essential in developing a workforce that is efficient in producing the goods and services needed to compete in the global economy. The aim is to equip young men and women with skills, knowledge, work ethic, as well as the certification necessary for them to be gainfully employed. At the head of the graduating class is Delirose Puerto, a Belize Defense Force soldier who decided to return to the classroom after several years in the military.
