Minister Accused of Sexual Harassment
A sitting minister of government is being accused of sexual harassment by a female attorney. That same minister is in turn accusing the female attorney of blackmail. The lawyer alleges that the minister sexually harassed her by sending unsolicited nude pictures on multiple occasions. The attorney says that she had to leave the country momentarily in fear of her life, after the minister reportedly threatened her. We are also told that she reported the matter to Prime Minister John Briceño. However, a spokesperson and attorney for the minister told News Five that the relationship was consensual. The minister’s spokesperson further claims that “since last year the female attorney has been blackmailing him, extorting him, and demanding private meetings with him where she is making demands for him to facilitate land transactions to her benefit, and when he has refused, she contacted his wife, every possible member of the opposition, his support staff, and even key opposition attorneys and a certain newspaper.” We are told that a complaint against the attorney will be submitted to the General Legal Council to look into the attorney’s conduct. News 5 has been furnished with text messages that indicate a consensual relationship between the minister and the attorney. News Five is also told that the minister decided to file a police report against the attorney for extortion and cyber bullying. When we asked the attorney making the accusation against the minister, she told us, “I don’t have any comment”. The minister says that he is embarrassed and apologizes to his family, constituents, and party.
