“Rich Kid” is Killed in Hit & Run Incident

A hit and run in Belize City on Friday night has claimed the life of a Belize City resident. Fifty-two-year-old Radcliffe Codd was riding a bicycle along the Philip Goldson Highway when he was knocked down by someone driving a black Kia sports utility vehicle. The motorist and cyclist were both headed in the same direction at the time of the incident. Upon receiving information of what had taken place, police responded to an area in front of A&R Enterprises Limited, where they observed Codd unconscious, face down in the middle of the highway. He had suffered severe head and body injuries and was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he passed away on Sunday morning. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero provides additional details of the incident.

“On Friday August 25th, 2023, police responded to a fatal hit and run accident in front of A&R. Upon their arrival, they found Radcliffe Codd with injuries. Information is that he was riding a bicycle heading towards Belama area when he was hit from behind by a vehicle. He was taken to the KHMH for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. We are presently looking for a vehicle in regards to this fatal RTA, as the vehicle fled from the scene.”

“Yes, we have a description. We are following up to try and establish which vehicle is this.”

“Yes, that is part of the investigation. We are looking at surveillance cameras in that area.”
