Everal Sambula Acquitted of Firearms Offenses
Twenty-four-year-old Everal Sambula, a resident of Partridge Street in Belize City, has been acquitted of two firearms-related offenses. In May 2019, he was charged for kept unlicensed firearm and ammunition, after police said that he had knowledge of a thirty-eight special revolver and three rounds of matching ammunition. But in a trial before the lower courts, Sambula was freed of the charges after the prosecutor closed his case and did not tender into evidence the pistol and ammunition that the police claimed belonged to him. Sambula was represented in court by attorney Ronell Gonzalez. The prosecution’s evidence was led by a police witness who testified that on the day in question he saw Sambula toss an object in a yard under a house. When escorted back to the location, they claimed to have found firearm that was loaded with three live rounds.
