Man Shot in the City While Conversing with Friends
A Belize City man underwent surgery this afternoon to repair a bullet wound he suffered in Belize City this morning. The shooting happened around nine-twenty a.m., on Vernon Street near its junction with Pine Street, a short distance away from a checkpoint near Mayflower Street. Police say that twenty-seven-year-old Jahleel Goodger was sitting on the steps of a wooden house at the corner of Pine and Vernon Streets and was conversing with two men when the gunman appeared from behind the house and shot at him. This morning, Scenes of Crime personnel scoured through the area looking for expended shells as other investigators tried to gather whatever information they could about the incident. The motive is still undetermined.
