U.D.P. Says ComPol Williams Offered No Reason for Rejecting Application
According to Peyrefitte, the Commissioner of Police did not offer a cause for turning down the request. The Chairman of the United Democratic Party goes on to give several reasons why they will protest outside of the location where the summit is being held.
Mike Peyrefitte, Chairman, United Democratic Party
“There was no reason given other than clearly the government, this government, is extremely thin-skinned and insecure. They want to be able to do whatever it is they want to do and nobody can say anything. They want to raise the price of gas to ridiculous levels and nobody is to do anything. We have a situation with crime, nobody is to say anything. We have a situation where they have borrowed, since November 2020, a billion dollars and nobody is to say anything. You talk about decorum when it comes to the Eleventh Amendment and then you see ministers Perez and Ferguson in the situation they’re in, but nobody is to say anything. You have a man getting ten gun licenses in seventeen months and nobody is to say anything. It’s ridiculous and our response is that the people, the people have a voice and the people should be free to express themselves. We’re not promoting violence, we’re not promoting any type of behavior that would be breaking any laws. We have a voice and this is a democracy, the last time I checked.”
