Latest shooting victim left hospitalized

Story PictureThe latest victim of gun violence in the City is hospitalized at the K.H.M.H. The twenty-six year old was on his way to work when he was attacked. The motive is not known but it is confirmed that Marvin Underwood was at the venue at another shooting that ended in murder over the weekend. Marion Ali followed this story early this morning.

The suppressed patch of grass at the side of the drain on Sarstoon Street marked the spot where twenty-six year old Marvin Underwood fell after he was shot at least four times this morning.

This pack of Halls, still unopened, presumably fell out of his pocket as he collapsed.

Underwood was reportedly on his way to his workplace, Belize Western Energy Limited, a gas company on the same street when he was ambushed by at least two men shortly before after seven a.m.

Tesa Underwood says she rushed to the KHMH and managed to see him.

Tesa Underwood, Sister of Shooting Victim
“I saw him on the bed with bout five different bullet… I saw a bullet here, two to the head of the head, and one by ih neck.”

“Was he able to talk?”

Tesa Underwood
“Yes he was talking. He describe di person weh shot ah. He mi deh pan ih bicycle going to work. BWEL; my bredda work dah BWEL pan Sarstoon Street. And upon reaching Sarstoon Street and Courtenay Crescent, di person, whoever do it, this dread person, just fire shot and he fall offa ih bike. When he fall he run towards Courtenay Crescent and soh he collapse.”

But this sister believes her brother was shot because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Marvin and his other brother, Alex Underwood were at Club Enterprise, formerly the Q-Club on Caesar Ridge Road when thirty-six year old Dembert Jones was murdered on Sunday night.

Tesa Underwood
“Two of them were there but both of them were with their girlfriend and I don’t understand. All I know, my bredda, Alex Underwood is not involved with the murder that happened Sunday nor Marvin, of course not. Marvin is not a trouble maker.”

Tesa Underwood says the attack has left her angry because she feels revenge was taken against a man who is not a trouble-maker.

Tesa Underwood
“I am very vex cause that is my little brother, you understand. My little brother noh into problems and, as an older sister, I always think that dah I supposed to protect dem, yoh understand. And I am very angry with this person who did this to him. And I hope that he hear weh I am saying because the world is round. Police have no suspects thus far and are still interviewing eyewitnesses in the area. Meanwhile, Underwood underwent surgery for internal hemorrhaging and doctors have taken out one of the bullets lodged in his body.
