San Pedro Town Gets Several Cement Streets

Several dirt roads in residential communities in San Pedro are being cemented as part of a twenty-five million-dollar municipal bond that the Town Council has floated. The roads, which are prone to flooding in the rainy season, have been raised and resurfaced. Mayor Wally Nunez told News Five that part of the project also includes the resealing and refurbishing of the two-lane bridge. The San Pedrito, San Pablo, D.F.C and San Juan areas of town are primarily where the infrastructure works are being carried out over the next few months.

“We have started in the Escalante Subdivision. We have done parts of D.F.C. and part of San Juan area, sorry, this is San Pablo area. These streets will be connecting the different areas, so we call it paving it forward and connecting people because we are connecting the different areas as one project. So right after D.F.C. and the San Pablo area, we’re coming into the area by the air strip and behind the air strip, where you have San Pedrito. That will connect to town. There is also another connection, which would be behind the gas station, which is Sea Grape Drive, all the way coming down to by Tropic Air. We also have here at E and L beside Holchan, that street will be concrete all the way to the back in the area of San Juan. We’re going all the way to Boca del Rio and also the San Mateo area. The main streets will be paved, so roughly everything is about eight miles. In our first year, we started to do a lot of street works, which were in a very, very deplorable conditions. And those street works, were the base of what we are doing now because the main roads in all these residential areas were worked on. We put different material than what it used to be used on these streets, so that we can form that base so that we can pave it afterwards. We also did the bridge, the two lane bridge. So everything encompassed in one project, in one plan, which this project is – we’re raising municipal bonds, and roughly around 25 million will be invested in all of these areas.”
