Forward Operating Base to Receive Structural Attention
The Forward Operating Base at the Sarstoon in Toledo has been having structural issues for a couple years now and occupancy at the facility had to be discontinued. But the base will be receiving the attention it needs and according to the Minister of Defense, Florencio Marin, Junior, as soon as the engineers indicate that they can remedy that situation, they will work on it. Marin told the media this evening that the type of ground where the building sits is not solid and that has been the problem.

“We are right now speaking with the engineers to finalize the plan because I don’t know if you guys have been there that’s not ground like here. That’s really muddy and all that, so we just can’t put any structure there and worse, any structure that’s going to endanger the lives of our soldiers. So it’s a challenging thing. We’re having the engineers who are telling us, when they tell us we’re ready to go, we’re going to move. And yes, it is a priority for us. General Loria and Admiral Bennett are both adamant that it is an essential base that we must be manning as part of our national security.”
