Has Mayor Bernard Wagner Been Endorsed as P.U.P.’s Belize City Mayoral Candidate?
Returning to the latest political developments, credible information to News Five is that Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner has been endorsed by the People’s United Party as its mayoral candidate in Belize City for the 2024 Municipal Election. As we have reported, Mayor Wagner publicly announced that he would not contest the seat if it were to go to a party convention. His Deputy Mayor, Allan Pollard is among those that have submitted an application to contest the P.U.P.’s mayoral seat. But, with an endorsement for Mayor Wagner, are all those other applications dead in the water? Today we asked the mayor about it when we caught up with him in Belize City and he simply told us that he has not received anything official in writing as yet.

“Sir are you able to confirm wehter you have been endorsed by the party, we understand that a decision has been made to endorse you for the upcoming municipal elections.”

“That dah good news, I nuh hear about it, I nuh get nothing in writing as yet. I remain optimistic and come what may be will be.”

“You feel like you forced the party’s hand given that you said you weren’t going to a convention?”
Bernard Wagner
“No not really? I nuh force anyone hand. I neva had a gun at anyone head. I had my terms and condition with is my right. I have not heard anything official so I can’t confirm my good friend here confirmation on that.”
